How is Vietcombank's rate different from the State Bank's (SBV) rate?
Vietcombank's rate is the actual buy/sell rate individual customers transact at, over the counter or by transfer. The SBV's daily published rate is only a reference (central) rate, used as the basis for commercial banks' trading bands - it isn't a rate you transact at directly.
Why is there a gap between the USD buy and sell rates?
The spread between the buy and sell rate is the bank's margin and compensation for exchange-rate risk. If you convert USD to VND and immediately convert back, you'd absorb that spread.
How often does VnMarketData update the USD rate?
The rate is checked every 5-10 minutes and a new data point is recorded only when the value actually changes from the previous check. Data is for reference only, not trading advice.
